Events attended in September 2018

September 26, 2018

02/09/18 – Mayor of St Asaph’s Civic Service held at St. Asaph Cathedral. A nice day with the people of St Asaph.

03/09/18 – Merchant Navy Day – raising the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day at the flagpoles outside County Hall, Ruthin. It was good to see so many there for this event and a great pleasure to welcome Mr Ted Evans, 96 who joined the Merchant Navy in 1936 as a cabin boy and gave us an insight into the significant importance and often very dangerous conditions of life in the Merchant Navy.

07/09/18 – Emergency Services Day – the first year that this flag flying event has been held to recognise and thank our 999 services. The event was held at the flagpoles outside County Hall, Ruthin and we were lucky to have members of the Police, Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade with us.

07/09/18 – Panel Signing Ceremony at Ysgol Carreg Emlyn – the framework of the school had been built up over the summer break so we signed one of the inside panels, the school children were very excited and impressed with the progress at the School.

08/09/18 – RAF Centenary Cathedral Service and Parade held in Bangor as part of the 100th Anniversary Celebrations. A very good turnout at the Cathedral on what was an atrocious day as the rain didn’t stop. Unfortunately due to the bad weather the scheduled fly past was unable to go ahead.

13/09/18 – Ysgol Pen Barras visit to the Denbighshire Council offices and the Council Chamber in Ruthin.

13/09/18 – Panel signing at Ysgol Llanfair DC where the panel we signed was placed in the School wall afterwards.

16/09/18 – Wreath laying ceremony in Rhyl to celebrate the Battle of Britain with the RAF Air Force Cadets. The wreath laying followed a Service at St Thomas Church, Rhyl.

16/09/18 – Chairman of Conwy’s Civic Service held at St Mary Magdalene Church, Cerrigydrudian. This was a nice service followed by afternoon tea at the White Lion.

20/09/18 – North Wales Superkids held an information event at their grotto in the Old Library, Raikes Lane, Mold. This Charity sends out Christmas presents to children whose parents are unable to provide for them at this time. They are always looking for presents, donations and wool. A very worthwhile Charity.

21/09/18 – Panel signing at Christ the World Catholic School site in Rhyl.
